Teachers’ conventions & professional development days

Kathy has presented at numerous Conventions and P.D. days within Alberta. Her sessions are very popular and she is consistently given great reviews by those in attendance. As a result, she has been asked back to many conventions and also visits schools individually for more detailed Professional Development sessions. During presentations, Kathy leads participants through her two creative writing workshops. Workshop fees include the use of Kathy s (copyrighted) story planning templates and tip sheet.

Tell me a story (ECS–grade 2)

Using a storyboard format, Kathy encourages young children to tell/draw/write their stories in a fun and creative way. During this session Kathy will share some of her tips and strategies for improving students creative writing skills. This workshop is also popular in ESL and special needs classrooms.

WRITE ON (grades 3–6)

Kathy motivates young writers (even the reluctant ones!) with this high energy fun workshop. Using creative analogies, she encourages students to write better stories, while emphasizing the basics of a good story plan. During this session Kathy will share many practical tips and strategies for improving students creative writing skills.
